Richard J. Saxen MD

Dr. Saxen is a board certified Internist who specializes in Clinical Lipidology. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Lipidology and his passion is helping patients reduce their risk of cardiac and metabolic diseases. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, he attended medical school at the Medical College of Ohio. He completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at Stanford University. After concluding 4 years of service as an active-duty physician with the United States Air Force, he spent more than 10 years working in hospital medicine with SDACC, including serving as Chair of the Department of Hospital Medicine for Kettering Health Main Campus. Dr. Saxen has now shifted his focus to his outpatient lipid clinic. He brings with him a vast array of knowledge and experience to help each patient be the healthiest version of themselves.

"After spending most of my career treating patients in the hospital who suffer from metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, I knew I had to find a better way.  There have been incredible advancements in the tools to prevent the development of these diseases, allowing a person to live healthier longer.  My drive is to bring these tools to patients helping them become the healthiest version of themselves.  This is my purpose. "
